Buying a used metal detector is a good way to afford "more" metal detector that you can really afford. If you decide to go this route I strongly recommend that you avoid the temptation to buy one from a classified ad.

Buying a used metal detector from a stranger is dangerous in several ways, including the obvious. Here's why:

You typically won't get a warranty or guarantee.
If you do get a warranty or guarantee for your used metal detector there is no way to really be sure if the seller will be around to honor it.
You could unknowingly buy a stolen metal detector which can cause you all kinds of trouble (beginning with the loss of your money AND the merchandise)!
